For the man living on the roster

The roster runs your life. It is time something ran with you.

For FIFO (fly-in fly-out) and shift workers in Australia. Daily structure that survives swings and night shift, habits that hold in camp, and a coach in your pocket the whole roster.

In his own words

The money is good and the work is honest.

The money is good and the work is honest. I am not complaining about the job. But FIFO, fly-in fly-out, does something to you that nobody warns you about. Camp food, broken sleep, days that all blur into the same shift, and a wet mess where a couple of quiet ones turns into every night because there is nothing else to do.

The plan is always that I will sort myself out on R&R. Then I get home flat, half-checked-out, and I burn the days off recovering instead of being present. My other half cops the version of me that is running on empty, and the kids get a bloke who is home but not really there.

Any routine I build on days off falls apart the second I fly back out. Training, eating right, staying off the drink, being switched on for the family. It all works at home and none of it survives the swing. So I keep starting over and never getting anywhere.

Why willpower alone has not worked

Your problem is not effort, it is that your world keeps changing under you. A normal routine assumes normal days. Yours flip between day shift, night shift, camp and home, so a plan built for one of them collapses in the others. Willpower cannot hold a routine that has no stable ground to stand on.

On site the culture pulls one way. When the drink is the only thing to do after a shift and everyone is in, saying no on willpower alone, tired and bored in a donga, is a losing bet most nights.

And out there nobody is holding you to the man you want to be at home. The job holds you to the work, not to your training, your goals or your patience on R&R. Left to willpower, the stuff that matters most quietly gets dropped every swing.

What changes with The Better Man

This goes with you

It is a coach in your pocket, not a routine bolted to your kitchen at home.

Your Daily Seven is short and flexes to the day you are actually in

A handful of clear actions that hold up on day shift, night shift, in camp and on R&R, so you stop starting over every swing and start stacking days that count wherever you are.

The drink on site becomes a standard you set, not a default you drift into

You choose the goal, dry swings or fewer nights, and the accountability chat is there after the shift to hold the bar you set when you were thinking straight, in your corner, not lecturing you.

The bigger goals get set and broken into milestones, so the money and the time away are actually buying the life you signed up for, not just passing

Habits and streaks make the wins visible across a swing, and the community is men who know exactly what camp and rotation take out of you.
